Classic Parallels or Similar’s

The Great Gatsby

I just finished reading The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, and the thing I enjoyed the most about it, is how Fitzgerald inserts you into this beautiful world he has created. The Great Gatsby is about a man named Nick Carraway who is new to the town of New York and meets this mysterious man named Gatsby who happens to be his neighbor. Throughout the story you found out more about the mysterious Gatsby and his somewhat tragic life. This classic really inserts you into the story like nothing I have never read. The Great Gatsby is set in a painting of the roaring twenties which is beautiful. This classic’s parallel is any book that involves going to a new city and some type of cute or tragic romance. The books that came to mind when I read this is Anna and the French Kiss and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. Anna and the French Kiss about a girl named Anna who is sent of to France for the first time and meets Etienne St. Claire and their adventures throughout the year. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is about Hadley. When Hadley misses her flight to London for her dads wedding, she meets a British bot named Oliver who happens to be on her next flight. Throughout the plane ride Hadley and Oliver get to know each other, only to lose each other when their flight lands in the chaos of the airport. But fate intervenes and brings them together once again in London. I find these novels similar to The Great Gatsby are the ways that they insert you into these worlds that you have never been in before such as New York, London, and France. It’s beautiful and enthralling how in all the books how you how you see a city though the eyes of someone who is unfamiliar with it. Also all of these novels have a romance in them. Although The Great Gatsby has a much more tragic romance than the books I compared it to, they are there and somewhat similar. The love stories in The Great Gatsby  and Anna and the First Kiss are more similar than one might think. Their both tragic in some way. Gatsby is in love with someone who used to love him back, but is now married and Anna is starting to like Etienne, but she finds out he has a girlfriend.
